Why Globe Valves?

Globe Valves are used for throttling flow control.  A globe valve should be selected when the desired outcome is to reduce the pressure of media in a piping system. The flow pattern through a globe valve involves changes in direction, resulting in greater flow restriction, and a large pressure drop, as media moves through the valve internals.

Shut-off is accomplished by moving the disc against the fluid, rather than across it.  This reduces wear & tear on the closure. As the disc moves towards fully closed, the pressure of the fluid is restricted to the desired pressure needed for the piping system.  Globe valves, unlike many other valve designs, are built to operate in extreme conditions caused when restricting fluid movement.
